135 million francs for widening and asphalting of the Belvédère road in Opnohu

Focus on the Opunohu Road widening project which was completed in July.

The Minister of Equipment, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the High Commissioner of the Republic, Emilia Hawizi, and the Deputy Mayor of Haapiti, Walter Taputurai, inaugurated the widening and renovation of the Belvedere Road from CRIOBE to Opunohu Agricultural High School.

The total length of the widened road is 2.7 kilometers, with an average width of 6 meters. Improvements made include widening curves and rectifying embankments. In addition, the longitudinal drains have been completely cleaned and stormwater aisles have been restored at the entrance of the Department of Equipment (DEQ) Moorea Division and the entrance of the Department of Agriculture (DAG) hangar.

The total cost of the project is nearly 135 million francs, 70% of which is borne by the state through three projects.th Financial instruments (3IF), 30% is provided by the state’s own funds.

These developments will significantly improve safety for the increasing number of users using the Moorea Belvedere Road, particularly school transport who share the route with visitors heading to tourist attractions upstream.
