Sources revealed that a massive investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies is underway to identify the mastermind behind the cocaine stash worth 11 billion Jamaican dollars seized in St. Andrew on Tuesday.
Officials confirmed yesterday that police found approximately 2,600 kilograms or 5,569 pounds of cocaine, with a street value of $75.79 million, at a house in the Havendale community during a three-hour operation.
“A whole lot of cocaine,” said a police source who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly on this investigation.
Officials revealed that a total of five people were arrested in the operation and remained in custody as of late yesterday.
None of the five men have faced any criminal charges.
Two motor vehicles were also seized.
Police officials declined to comment publicly on the case because of the delicate nature of the investigation.
