Deputy Speaker of the Sierra Leone Parliament, Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, meets with the Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ambassador Chief Ernest Baimba Ndomahina, at his office at Parliament House in Freetown on Monday, July 8, 2024.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss how the western region could benefit from the Namibian Children’s Services program and other activities they were involved in to reduce poverty.
The Deputy Speaker in his report acknowledged the work done by NaCSA in national development and went on to inform the Commissioner that most of the Commissionโs projects are implemented in the provinces, especially those supported by the World Bank and other international organizations. The Deputy Speaker said he hoped that NaCSA would implement some projects in the Western Region. โMost of the Commissionโs social safety net projects are implemented in the provinces,โ he said.
The Deputy Speaker also called on the Commissioner to reorient and consider implementing NaCSAโs projects in the western region.
He also said the purpose of inviting the Commissioner was to plan how the Western Region Survey would be conducted and include it in the Commissionโs work plan for implementation.
Responding to the Deputy Speakerโs request, the NaSCA Commissioner promised that the Commission would take the request into account in its work programme and the activities of the Commission.
The talks culminated with the sharing of profound messages aimed at shaping and advancing the development needs and aspirations of the people and the country.
